There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

A little special something that caught my eye on ebay just now and the perfect Fathers Day gift...

Hmmm...

I have been shopping for some "emergency backup" supplies on Thursday. I thought, lets buy stuff I'll need (like food and toilet paper) as long as I can still afford it. I ended up with 280 Euros worth of stuff in my shopping-cart (and that at the cheap "business-customers only" mart - a friend has a card to let me in). I could barley move the cart at the end... Well, at that time, this was like: "This is stuff I will need anyway, stuff which has a long storage life. This shopping spree will probably look very stupid in one years time"

Then I read this today. I am now really frightened. After reading that, I ordered medicine on the internet (which I probably would need anyway - disinfection solution and drugs against headache, colds, diarrhoea) today which should last at least for the next three years (unless something totally unforeseen happens).

Damn, and there are still things I should buy. Washing powder, cloth, vegetables in cans. I love to drink milk, but it is not affordable (at least for me) to have milk in a form which has a long shelf life.

Am I being paranoid?

I'm not in a position to answer that question but if you have started living inside a Farady Cage and freezing samples of your own seed that would probably be a bad sign

But if you are just buying some supplies forward I wouldn't say that's going too far.

If nothing else, given current inflation rates, you will save yourself some money as a result of converting bullshit paper money into something tangible

Most of our big cities have nothing more than a few days food in stock and their water supplies are fragile. So, to be honest, if you can afford it, I don't think it is paranoid to gradually build up a little reserve. It's no more paranoid than paying for insurance

A Farady Cage is out of the question, at the current prices for metals... and getting a decent seed freezer which runs on solar power is not trivial task either, at least I wasn't able to secure one on ebay yet.

I guess, stocking up some flour, wheat and rice, baking one's own bread would be a good idea anyway. Guess I try to have some reserves.

The primary problem anyway is heating and warm water, followed by electricity. The electricity problem could be solved by going photo-voltaic. But heating? That's the though problem...

i'm a total profligate planetary destruction whore who - aside from a fleet of bentleys, bugattis, range rovers and porsche cayennes in eighteen different colours, and a high octane "fossil" fuel powered sofa i use to traverse around my many acres of sprawling mansion - doesn't use "hot water", whatever that means, but if you have your own roof or a spot where you can install a solar water heater set-up, i'd highly recommend doing so...put it this way, the water tank inside the roof atop the east wing of my enormous home soaks up enough heat on a warm day for 'cold' water to come out warm, so if you deliberately set out to absorb solar energy with the afore mentioned set of pipework you should - even on a colder day - at least end up with something warm enough to prevent that outie turning into an innie - if you get me

*word verification: "icryjsfp" !

i cry justice should fucking prevail ?

those damn lizards are at it again with the mind control

oh, and what's this "heating" i keep hearing aboot ?

i keeps me windows open if at all possible at all times - fresh air good - aside from when a fucker stops his evil brand new diesel honda accord with the engine still running in the street below - instant migraine caused by the satanic vapours it produces

or any other bastard diesel for that matter

bastards

highway code keeps looking like a suitable catapult projectile every time they does that

seriously, i have the window completely open all year round if possible and the coolest it ever gets in here in the depths of winter is a balmy 10 degrees c or so, neighbours complain their walls adjoining mine are a tad chilly, but i think my walls adjoining theirs are pleasantly warm to the touch

word of warning regarding bulk buying/cash and carrys - i am constantly being bombarded with requests for half price rizlas and bags of billingtons' unrefined - be like dad and keep mum, or you'll end up opening your own cash and carry by accident !
